Tea Time

Nothings more relaxing than a warm cup of tea and a cool breeze.  (Really wish I had these during tea parties as a child!)

Tea anyone?

Spring Time, Sunshine

You know, I woke up this morning in a great mood! Have you ever had a day that you wake up with a smile on your face for no other reason than your happy with your life? That's me! I got some not so great news earlier this week, but i wasn't all that upset about it. Everything happens for a reason, right? I think the sun shining, a gentle breeze, and brightly colored blooms gave me the realization i was in need of. Me life is awesome! Sure, my bank account and closet may not as full as i would like them but i know i will get there!

A part of getting my into this springy mood is changing my surroundings slightly. Rearranging the furniture and/or changing the colors in a room with paint or accent pieces, and of course fresh flowers are a must! Here are a few of my favorite options:

Each of these beautiful options can be found at westelm.com, worldmarket.com, pier1.com, or urbanoutfitters.com

Home Decor

Linden Sofa + Armchair $599-1699

If your anything like me, you bore easily with home decor. Maybe bore is the wrong word, but the urge and need for change or make improvements in your home comes around every three to four months. Well your in luck, a change is simple and easy to achieve without spending a lot of money.

  1. Rearrange the room. This can be as simple as angling a larger piece of furniture (ex. sofa or bed). This will allow you to create a new focal point in the room.
  2. Add color. This can be achieved by painting the walls or hanging paintings in the color palate you desire. Keep in mind you are an artist, so go to a supply store, pick up a few canvas', and paint til you get it right!
  3. Fabric. Change the pillows on the bed or sofa, change your window treatments, frame fabrics you love and display as art, and switch the throws on the sofa and bed. If your feeling extra crafty, make a fabric headboard, it's an easy and fun way add variety to the bedroom.
  4. Flower power. Flowers are the easiest way to bring color, life, and freshness to any room.
  5. Let their be light. Bring in candles, switch out lamps, and alter your window treatment.

To reinvent the room above I would use these fabulous options:

Floral Scarf Pillow $38.00
Silk Dupioni Window Panel $59-109
Chenille Throw - Brown (50x60")
Infinite Tone IV - 16 x 16 79.99
Ivory Unscented Candles 3.99-13.98
Hammered Copper Vase 49.99

Fall Home Decor

Not only are fall fashions exciting, I love decorating my home to follow the seasons! Falls earth tones are warm and inviting, and make me feel at home. Tips to celebrate this time of year include:

  1. Natural Decorations. Fill a clear glass jar or decorative bowl with fallen leaves, pine cones, twigs, acorns, dried fruits and my favorite whole nuts in their shell.
  2. Utilize the fruits and vegetables of the season! Be sure to visit your local farmers market great seasonal finds, such as pomegranates, clementines, gourds, and etc, to cook with and decorate your home. (The fruit will also give off a fragrant inviting aroma to your home!)
  3. Smell is key! Those warm, spicy aromas not only make you feel at home but also gives you the illusion of physical warmth during those cold days and chilly nights. Make your on potpourri with dried flowers, nuts, cinnamon sticks, whole clove, allspice berries, and star anise.
  4. Wreath it up! Make your own wreaths from rosemary, leaves, feathers, etc, that reflect the colors of the season.
  5. Flower Power! Always, always, always fill your home with fresh fragrant flowers. They help to soften and warm your home.
